And Everything I think I Need I Gladly Bow Before Your Feet in Glory to my King!

Featuring Dennis Jernigan Posted on May 13, 2010

As a child, there were so many times my mom would take us with her to the grocery store. Each time we walked down those towering aisles of colorful snack cakes and cookies and cereal my senses were overwhelmed with intense desire to begin throwing one of each into the cart! Most of those items I had never actually tried…but I had seen them advertised on TV...and the TV people told me I needed them! I can still remember thinking as I look back that I really did NEED those things to be happy. Each time we left without Hostess cupcakes or Cap’n Crunch cereal I was a basket case. In our spiritual walk, we can quickly become spiritual basket cases whenever we think we can have our needs met in ways other than what is best for us – in ways other than God ordained. My freedom comes when I place all my needs at the feet of Jesus. It is for His glory…but I reap all the benefits.

What are your basic needs today? Spiritual? Physical? Emotional? Mental? Lay them at the feet of Jesus as they come to mind.

"Look at the birds of the air, that they do not sow, nor reap nor gather into barns, and

(yet) your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not worth much more than they?

"And who of you by being worried can add a (single) hour to his life?

"And why are you worried about clothing? Observe how the lilies of the field grow; they

do not toil nor do they spin,

yet I say to you that not even Solomon in all his glory clothed himself like one of these.

"But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which is (alive) today and tomorrow is

thrown into the furnace, (will He) not much more (clothe) you? You of little faith!

"Do not worry then, saying, 'What will we eat?' or 'What will we drink?' or 'What will we

wear for clothing?'

"For the Gentiles eagerly seek all these things; for your heavenly Father knows that you

need all these things.
