Poured from the vein of Redeeming Love

Featuring Dennis Jernigan Posted on September 9, 2010

Jesus poured out His very life for me. His pouring out was ultimately all-consuming. He poured out his mind, His emotions, His blood, and His very life. It is said that the life is in the blood…and this is so true. After I injured a leg a few years ago, I was left with a gaping wound and was told that no skin graft could be employed…that the wound must heal from the inside out (that’s another devotion in itself!). I was instructed to make the edges of the wound bleed as much as possible whenever I was dressing the wound. Why? Life is in the blood. As the wound is opened and blood pours in, life comes to the wounded area. Before I knew it, my wound had begun to close and eventually healed completely. Jesus applied His own life-blood to my sin-wounded life…and the wound is healing and one day will be completely closed when I see Him face to face. When I think of the blood, though, I cannot help but think of not only life pouring out for me, but pure love flowing and pouring out as well.
What areas of your life do you need to see life-blood poured into today? What areas of your life do you need to see love poured into today? How can you pour life and love into the life of those around you today?
Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus, who, although He existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, {and} being made in the likeness of men. Philippians 2:5-7 NASB
