New Album From Mark Cullen

Featuring Mark Cullen Posted on September 14, 2012

In titling this project Enduring, I had two things in mind.

Firstly, I have chosen songs that have endured the critique of the wider Christian community, some that have endured the test of time, and a couple of my own that I hope will also endure.

I have played each of these songs in church for worship and noted people’s response to them. Sometimes I can see people begin to give expression to their heart for God as we sing them, other times they tell me afterwards how impacting or meaningful a particular song is for them. These are songs that resonate with me personally, but also with my church family, and everywhere I go.

I wanted to record a handful of these songs for people to be able to take with them and play wherever they are during the week.

Secondly, and more importantly, is the reference to the enduring character of God. His goodness, His kindness, His mercy, His righteousness, His faithfulness, His steadfast love endures forever. These are statements echoed over and over throughout Scripture. This is a God we can count on, a God we can depend on: an unchanging God whose heart toward us is good and generous.

I love how Lamentations 3:22-24 expresses this:

The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases;

his mercies never come to an end;

they are new every morning;

great is your faithfulness.

The LORD is my portion," says my soul,

"therefore I will hope in him.”

My hope is that as you listen to these songs you’ll be reminded of that.
