Like a kiss to heal the pain

Featuring Dennis Jernigan Posted on January 30, 2010

“…Like a kiss to heal the pain…”

Remember when you were a child and the many times you fell and scraped a knee or cut your finger? What do you remember more than the pain? Probably you associate a good memory to that pain because (if you were fortunate enough to have a loving mom or dad) your mom was there to kiss the boo-boo and ‘make it all better’. What a great picture of what the Lord does for us in a spiritual sense. Through all the pain of my life – the torture and torment of my bondage and the struggle for freedom…the anguish of sorrow and loss in the simple living out of life – He has been there to heal my pain and ‘make it all better’. I love looking back on the painful moments of my life now (those that I am far enough removed from) and remembering how the Lord touched me in that moment and brought healing. I still need that. I crave that touch.
What are some of the moments you recall when God touched you in your pain and brought healing? Thank Him. What are some areas of pain right now that you need Him to touch? Let Him.

The troubles of my heart are enlarged;
Bring me out of my distresses.
Look upon my affliction [pain] and my trouble,
And forgive all my sins.
Look upon my enemies, for they are many,
And they hate me with violent hatred.
Guard my soul and deliver me;
Do not let me be ashamed, for I take refuge in You.

Psalm 25:17-20 NASB
