And with the lightning and thunder I loudly proclaim

“…And with the lightning and thunder I loudly proclaim…”
There have been people I have met in this life who declare their ‘greatness’ in a loud boisterous manner…and then there are those I have observed who live their lives in such a way that greatness permeates all they say, think, and do. My greatest freedom has come through simple proclamation. Not proclaiming any greatness on my part, but rather, proclamation of Who it is that loves me and sets me free. The power of proclamation is the power of life and death in a sense. God’s Word says the power of life and death rests in the tongue. When I am tempted my response is a proclamation that says, ‘That thought is not representation of who I am. That is not me. I will think on what is right and true and good and godly.’ That is a great proclamation, but the greater proclamation is this: ‘My God is the one Who gives me my identity. I am Who He says I am.’ Both are good. The second is better because it declares the reality of Who God is and reminds me that I am nothing apart from Him. May my life be like the lightning and thunder that declare the power and majesty of my God!
Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it will eat its fruit.
