Top 40 Worship Songs Of 2012

Posted on January 4, 2020

The year 2012 brought a signature song of worship from Matt Redman that eclipsed all other songs. Not only was 10000 Reasons the number one song of the year, but it was also the number one song of the decade, and currently stands as the number one song of all time in PraiseCharts. A song like this only comes around once every ten years. Imagine how significant of a song Cornerstone has been, and yet 10000 Reasons outpaced Cornerstone in 2012 by three times! Here's a fun fact that may surprise you: Hillsong Music had a hand in both 10000 Reasons and Cornerstone.  We don't often think of 10000 Reasons coming from Hillsong Music, but at the time, Jonas Myrin was a Hillsong songwriter. 2012 was a marked year for modern worship songwriting, and 10000 Reasons will go down in the history books as a modern-day hymn, likely to be sung for decades in the future. See also Top 40 Worship Songs Of 2011 and Top 40 Worship Songs Of 2013.
