Devotion is longing, intense longing for the Beloved. When ones' love is to give pleasure and glory to the Lord. A clear and willing choice that we make as we faithfully respond to God's words to us. God was close to us, because God wanted to be close. Even after we got into trouble with sin and separated ourselves from His presence, he pursued us. He never let us out of His sight. God rescued humanity over and over again. God is still claiming his people today, and doing it by moving in with us, being close.
