God was close to us, because God wanted to be close. Even after we got into trouble with sin and separated ourselves from His presence, he pursued us. He never let us out of His sight. God rescued humanity over and over again. God is still claiming his people today, and doing it by moving in with us, being close.
The power of his presence is mighty. It will fill the temple and no one will be able to enter during the Tribulation. This is a glimpse of the power of God's presence. There were multiple times in the Bible where the presence of God entered a place and people were unable to stand. (1 Chron 6 and upper room in Acts 2) We need to seek His presence and power in our lives. This comes through the filling of the Holy Spirit.
There are many things that we desire, and some of those are healthy things, none should be our greatest desire but God. When anything else becomes our greatest desire it becomes the object of our worship and there is none more worthy than God Almighty. Nothing else can satisfy. David so beautifully said in Psalm 73:25 (ESV)…“Whom have I in heaven but you? And there is nothing on earth that I desire besides you.”
