About
Russell Fragar is a pioneering figure in contemporary worship music, best known for his foundational role in shaping the early sound of Hillsong Church. As Hillsong’s first music pastor, he produced the church’s first ten live worship albums—including the globally influential Shout to the Lord—and wrote enduring songs like “Holy Spirit Rain Down,” “Love You So Much,” and “So You Would Come”
Originally from Australia, Fragar joined Hillsong in the late 1980s and transitioned from a secular music career into full-time ministry. His leadership and musical direction were instrumental in launching Hillsong’s global worship movement. In 2001, he relocated to the United States, where he continued his ministry as a worship pastor at The Life Church in Virginia. In 2013, Fragar released his first solo project, Worship Now, a reflective and intimate worship album featuring vocals from his daughter Michelle Fragar (formerly of Hillsong UNITED) and Jordan Baird . The album marked a return to his creative roots, offering a fresh yet familiar sound that resonated with longtime Hillsong fans.
Today, Russell Fragar continues to inspire worship leaders and musicians worldwide through his songwriting, mentoring, and pastoral leadership.
