Steven Curtis Chapman is a Contemporary Christian musician, songwriter, and record producer. Born in Paducah, Kentucky, on November 21, 1962, he began his career as a songwriter, and then started releasing albums in the late 1980s. Chapman has released over 20 albums to date and has won five Grammy Awards and 56 Gospel Music Association Dove Awards, more than any other artist in history. He is a vocal advocate for adoption and has adopted three children from China, and he and his wife have started a charity organization called Show Hope, which helps orphans through its international orphan care work and adoption aid grants. Chapman has sold over 10 million albums and has nine RIAA-certified Gold or Platinum albums.
