David Ruis

About

David Ruis is a pioneering worship leader and songwriter who significantly shaped modern worship music in the 1990s and continues to influence the global church today. His songs like "You're Worthy of My Praise" and "Every Move I Make" became foundational anthems in contemporary worship. As one of the early voices in the Vineyard worship movement, he helped establish a more intimate and accessible style of worship music that would influence generations of worship leaders.

Beyond his musical contributions, Ruis is an author, speaker, and church planter. He has written two books exploring the intersection of worship and justice: "The Worship God Is Seeking" and "The Justice God Is Seeking." Currently serving as the National Director of Vineyard Canada alongside his wife Anita, he leads with a unique focus on integrating creative worship with social justice and community engagement.

His latest album "When Justice Shines" reflects his ongoing passion for connecting worship with practical outreach. The Ruises have been instrumental in establishing Vineyard communities not only in North America but also in Nepal and India, with a particular focus on indigenous communities and those experiencing poverty. Based in Kelowna, BC, David continues to travel internationally as a speaker and worship leader while fostering creativity and leadership development across cultural boundaries.
