Who Are We Talking About?

There is something powerful about declaring the name of Jesus with boldness. The lyrics of That’s My King capture the essence of what worship is: proclaiming who God is and lifting Him above everything else. When we say, “Who we talkin’ about? That’s my King!” we are making a declaration — not just with words, but with our whole lives.

Think about the names used to describe Jesus in this song: Wonderful, Beautiful, Glorious, Holy, Merciful, Powerful, Shepherd, Protector, Rock, Anchor, Defender. Each of these names reveals something about His nature and how He interacts with us.

  • He is Wonderful — Jesus is beyond description. No words can fully capture His beauty and goodness.
  • He is Powerful — He holds authority over all things and reigns with unmatched strength.
  • He is Merciful — Even in our failures, He extends grace and love.
  • He is our Rock and Anchor — In every storm, He remains unshaken and secure.

When you call Jesus “my King”, it’s personal. He is not just a King — He is your King. It means you trust Him, follow Him, and surrender your life to His rule.

Joining the Song of Heaven

Verse 2 reminds us:
“I’m not letting the rocks cry without joining the chorus.”

This echoes Luke 19:40, where Jesus says, “If they keep quiet, the stones will cry out.” Worship is not just for angels or the heavens — it is our privilege and responsibility. All of creation points to His glory, but as His redeemed people, we have an even greater reason to praise Him.

Have you ever held back from expressing worship? Maybe fear, doubt, or distractions have kept you silent. But this song encourages us to step into the eternal symphony of worship, to join heaven and earth in exalting the One who reigns forever.

Living the Declaration

The Bridge is a powerful proclamation of who Jesus is. As you sing these words — “That’s my King, That’s my God, That’s my Shepherd, my Protector” — consider how each name relates to your life.

  • Do you trust Him as your Shepherd to guide you?
  • Do you rely on Him as your Protector in spiritual battles?
  • Is He truly your King, reigning over every decision, priority, and desire in your heart?

When we sing “He shall reign forever and ever,” we are not just stating a future reality — we are acknowledging His rule in our lives now. Worship is more than music; it’s a lifestyle of surrender to the King of Kings.

Reflection Questions

  1. Which name of Jesus from this song speaks to you the most today?
  2. In what areas of your life do you need to submit more fully to His kingship?
  3. How can you live out worship beyond just singing — through your words, actions, and choices?

Closing Prayer

Lord Jesus, You are my King. You are wonderful, powerful, and worthy of all praise. I don’t want to stay silent — I want to declare Your glory with my life. Help me to trust You as my Shepherd, my Rock, and my Defender. Reign in my heart today and forever. In Your mighty name, Amen.
