There are many things that we desire, and some of those are healthy things, none should be our greatest desire but God. When anything else becomes our greatest desire it becomes the object of our worship and there is none more worthy than God Almighty. Nothing else can satisfy. David so beautifully said in Psalm 73:25 (ESV)…“Whom have I in heaven but you? And there is nothing on earth that I desire besides you.”
Sadness, frustration and anger are emotions not often embraced as inevitable parts of life—or of our spiritual journey. What do you do when you find yourself in a season of lament? There is good news that most of us know but few choose to embrace: lament is a necessary and healthy spiritual condition, an exercise of faith that can lead to eventual joy and peace that words fail to capture. Lament. This long expression of deep pain or sorrow isn't a sign of a *lack* of faith or spiritual weakness. It's a soul-strengthening exercise.
Prayer is a vital part of a Christian's relationship with God - it is our conversation with our Creator who knows us intimately and loves us deeply. And prayer isn't just talking, but can be singing as well. We can sing out our heart's cry, just as much as we can speak, whisper, or think our prayers.
