There is a Name Above All Names

Featuring Dennis Jernigan Posted on April 8, 2010

If you have grown up in any type of Christian upbringing at all you have heard the phrase ‘Jesus, the name above all names.’ But what does that really mean? With the name of Jesus comes all the authority of heaven. The name of Jesus embodies all that God is. At the name of Jesus, the Enemy flees in utter defeat. Because of the authority of the name and because of Who bears the name there is absolutely no other name higher! When we put our faith and trust in the name of Jesus it is more than taking a pledge or reciting a club motto. Trusting in the name of Jesus requires relationship with the One who wears the name. Relationship with the One Who has all the power means all that power is manifested for us…and that we, too, have authority over the lies of the Enemy…but we must appropriate that power. Jesus is literally called ‘The Word of God’…and we know that God’s Word, when sent out, does not return to us without accomplishing its purpose. That purpose is always perpetuating His life!

In what areas would you like to see life perpetuated today? What areas of your life seem to be suffering death at the hands of the Enemy’s lies? How can you relationally appropriate the name of Jesus in those areas today?

(He is) clothed with a robe dipped in blood,
and His name is called The Word of God.
Revelation 19:13 NASB

So will My word be which goes forth from My mouth;
It will not return to Me empty,
Without accomplishing what I desire,
And without succeeding (in the matter) for which I sent it.
Isaiah 55:11 NASB
