Like a lost man needs a sign

“…Like a lost man needs a sign…”
As I was growing up, I heard so many sermons and testimonies from real people about how someone ‘found’ Jesus. This never really made much sense to me since I also heard the sermon after sermon and testimony after testimony that told about how ‘lost’ someone was. How can you find something if you are the one who is lost? It’s a logical question. Yes, I know we seek the Lord and we find Him but the true reality is where we must start from if we are to have a healthy view of God. Sin separated me from God and I lost my way. I was the lost one. There was a time in my life where I sought to fill my need for God with other things. I had my needs met in ways that only satisfied me for a moment. It was when I realized just how far I had strayed – just how far I had lost my way – that I realized that Jesus was there waiting for me seeking to save me) all the time. I was lost. He found me. Pure and simple. The sign I needed? That I was loved no matter what – but that His love would not leave me where I was!
Spend time today meditating on what it took for you to realize your ‘lost-ness’ and how the Lord found you. You will be pleasantly surprised at the depth of love – all over again!
All of us like sheep have gone astray,
Each of us has turned to his own way;
But the LORD has caused the iniquity of us all
To fall on Him.
