I Count Everything as Lost
Featuring Dennis Jernigan Posted on April 27, 2010
The older I get, the less I need. Looking back to my early days of newlywed bliss, I can see just how many ‘things’ I thought I needed to be happy and successful. Man, was I wrong. My wife and I have a house and lots of land. On that land we have 2 barns and an office house…and I have to take care of it all! The reality is this: I know I could live without all of those things. As with earthly possessions, we tend to be possessed by what we possess. So it is with our sin. So it is with unforgiveness. As long as we leave sin unconfessed we are held captive by that sin. As long as we harbor resentment and refuse to forgive those who hurt us, we are held prisoner by our own thoughts of revenge. The saddest part of all is that we lose everything we desire in freedom and love when we refuse to let go and count it all as lost. We gain the whole world in the process but we lose our own souls. Is holding on worth that? My freedom has come in letting go of my sin and letting go of the debt others owe me because of the way they have wounded me.
What sins do you need to confess today? What people do you need to release and forgive today? Confess and forgive and watch God invade your life with rich blessings of freedom and hope and joy.
More than that, I count all things to be loss in view of the surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them but rubbish so that I may gain Christ… Philippians 3:8 KJV
- Poured from the vein of Redeeming Love
- When is He coming? Morning, noon, or night?
- Died and rose again and now He reigns above
- He is coming. Make a Way...
- He is coming on a horse of white
- The King is coming. Prepare for Him the way...
- And Everything I think I Need I Gladly Bow Before Your Feet in Glory to my King!
- Every Hope and Vision! Every Dream!
