I believe Your love is deeper than the ocean

Featuring Dennis Jernigan Posted on January 27, 2010

“…Oh, I believe Your love is deeper than the ocean…”

A few years ago, Melinda and I had the privilege of taking a trip to Hawaii. Staying on the island of Maui, we made a short trip across the bay to a small extinct volcano cone that protrudes out of the ocean slightly, forming a crescent moon shape. This cone remnant is called Molokini. The crescent shape harbors an abundance of fish and offers protection from the strong ocean currents. While there, we snorkeled in the cold water and were amazed at the abundance of sea life and at the vivid array of colors and odd shapes. Mesmerized by the beauty I could see from the surface, I was startled to see people 40 feet below in SCUBA gear! At that moment I determined I would become certified to dive. A few short months later I gained my certification and found myself once again in the ocean and was startled to see how much more I could see at 100 feet than I could see from the surface. It’s a whole new world (as a Disney character once sang). Knowing God is like that. We can be satisfied with the grandeur of what we can see from the surface OR we can plunge deeper into intimacy with Him and discover a whole new world of relationship!

Today, dare to plunge into deeper intimacy with the Lord. Tell Him EVERYTHING…and trust Him to love you.

For the LORD is a great God And a great King above all gods,
In whose hand are the depths of the earth,
The peaks of the mountains are His also.
Psalm 95:3-4 NASB
