As He held out His hand I was too weak to stand

“…As He held out His hand I was too weak to stand…”

Have you ever had a time in your life where you felt like you were carrying the weight of the world on your shoulders? Maybe the feeling for you was more of the circus magician who tries to keep all the plates spinning. In my own life, because I did not dare risk exposing myself to humiliation by confessing my sin, I had to keep up the performance that I was ‘OK’ by performing my way to love and acceptance. The only problem with that kind of life is that eventually the world caves in on you and the plates all begin to fall to the ground and shatter. I know I keep harping on this honesty thing, but true freedom comes when we purposely take the weight off of our shoulders and stop trying to keep the crowd wowed by all the plates we spin through our honest confession. My strength is nothing. I fool myself if I think it’s all about me. Jesus Christ took the weight of my sin when I confessed I could no longer carry it. The weight lifted and I stopped performing for man’s acceptance.

What ‘world’ are you carrying around today? What plates are you trying to keep in the air? What can you do to alleviate those self-made burdens?
Cast your burden upon the LORD and He will sustain you;

He will never allow the righteous to be shaken.
Psalm 55:22 NASB
