And I believe that He is good, so good

How many times have I heard people say things like this: “If God is so loving and so good, why would He send someone to hell? Why do bad things happen to good people? Why does God allow us to go through abuse and emotional wounding?” The short answer is ‘sin’. God gave us a free will and we chose to go our own way. Sin ushered in calamity and chaos…not God! But the good news? God is in the business of taking our calamity and chaos and using those things to build a deep, abiding, life-giving relationship with us. Once we reach the age of being aware of who we are, we do have the choice as to how we respond to whatever life throws our way. God allowed me to go through same sex attraction…but taught me how to be a real man in the process. God allowed me to go through spiritual abuse at the hand of other believers…but taught me how to extend mercy and grace to even the most down and out individual – whether they agree with me or not. The bottom line is this: God is good – no matter what.

Spend time throughout the day today contemplating the goodness of God…especially in areas of your life where you may have some resentment toward Him for something he has allowed you to go through.

And we know that God causes all things to work
together for good to those who love God,
to those who are called according to {His} purpose..
