According to the social media gurus, subtlety and nuance is out, and sweeping, provocative language is in. People listen when we cut it short, and say it strong. When we’re talking about worship however, in all its forms, nuance will always matter. On the whole, we should always be more like Ents from The Lord Of The Rings trilogy, taking a long time to say anything important, anything of eternal import, rather than offering sharp sound bites that spark a conversation we may or may not be committed to curate ... more

“It’s the most wonderful time of the year...” ring the words of an old Christmas song. But why? Why does celebrating Christmas, and the season of Advent that leads up to it, matter? In the early centuries of the Church, it became clear that the rhythms of time – days, weeks, years, and lifetimes – could be used to help Christians remember and reclaim the saving events of Jesus life. Jesus’ birth (the Incarnation), and Jesus’ triumph over death (the Resurrection), were the two obvious themes that would shape the year ... more

ARE YOU READY TO RISK AGAIN? From John 6 in The Message. “The Spirit can make life. Sheer muscle and willpower don’t make anything happen. Every word I’ve spoken to you is a Spirit-word, and so it is life-making. But some of you are resisting, refusing to have any part in this.” (Jesus knew from the start that some weren’t going to risk themselves with him…).’” more

Hope is a powerful word. You may have used it, like me, once or twice in the past week. You may have said, “I hope I can meet my bills this month,” or “I hope I can see that concert,” or “I hope you remembered to take out the trash!” Hope can be a desire, a wish, or an expectation that something good lies ahead.

Continuing our special blog series that follows on the heals of our Grand Prize Duncan Africa guitar give-a-way, read the stories below to see the hundreds of faithful worship leaders and musicians who were nominated all around the world to win. What made this prize so beautiful was that most people were not trying to win the guitar for themselves. They were trying to win it for someone else. Part of the process meant that they could write a few words about the person they were nominating. Unfortunately, only person could win. However, we had more than 250 people give us permission to post their nominations as a way of honoring them. Truly, this is the spirit of honor, appreciation, and gratitude that makes up the greatest prize of this whole give-a-way.

On January 6, 2014, we saw nearly 1000 people nominate others to win our Duncan Africa Guitar. While there was only one winner, we received permission from more than 250 applicants to post the comments from their nomination. There are pages and pages of them, but it makes a great read to see people honoring others. In so many ways, all of these men and women are winners, as they press on in their ministry, whether or not they are publicly acknowledged.

Featuring Daniel Bashta Posted on January 30, 2013
Perhaps best known for penning the modern worship anthem “God’s Not Dead (Like A Lion),” recorded by David Crowder Band, newsboys and others, Daniel Bashta, a missionary kid who grew up immersed in ministry all around the globe, speaking life and hope into a dark world has been his life-long passion. Educated at the Worship Institute of London and heavily influenced by the ministry of Soul Survivor, Daniel’s path of ministry reads like an intertwining stream. Currently serving as worship pastor at RiverStone Church, just outside of Atlanta, GA, he launched GoMotion (www.gomotionworldwide.com) in 2009, a non-profit ministry that marries music, media and missions for global impact. And in 2013, he will launch The Roar, a missions training school aimed at the “rapid deployment of mission pioneers.”
