I would love some clarification on the term "Congregational Song Sheet" that is used in the CCLI license. I believe the license allows us to put words and even music on the projector or in the bulletin, but I expect that that also means that we can't photocopy a song from a Maranatha, Word, or other songbook for musicians or a congregational song sheet unless the publisher explicitly states that we can do this.<br/><br/>

Great question. You're correct in understanding that the CCLI license does not grant permission to make photocopies out of a music company's print product. The license primarily allows you to make your own copies of songs in the CCLI program for the uses described in their license. It's always best to obtain clarification on grey areas for any license terms and rights directly from the company that issues the licese, in this case CCLI. Most music companies publish in their music books what their policies are regarding photocopying. Some are very clear that having a CCLI license does not allow you to photocopy or make copies of their product. The only exception for photocopying is outlined by CCLI outlines regarding the congregational song sheet:

The Church Copyright License only allows you to photocopy what we call Congregational Single Songsheets (CSS), which is a single song found in a compilation of songs intended for congregational use. Song compilations include a hymnal or chorus book, and also include our online collection of lead sheets available through SongSelect Advanced. These songs can be photocopied for the purpose of assisting in congregational worship, if they are owned by one of the member copyright owners of CCLI.<br/><br/>
