How I Pick Worship Songs

Every week as I prepare to lead God’s people in worship I have to pick a song list. I am sure many worship leaders have many different ways that they process picking songs for their church, but I would like to share how I do it and hopefully it will help you in your process.

Whether you have a small church or a large church, learning to use the resources at hand leads us to greater levels of faith in our walk with the Lord...and He gets the glory!

Worship Leading Made Easy

What are the key questions to ask when preparing to lead people in worship? A different perspective on how to prepare the heart and be in tune with the Father's heart.

Include as many songs as possible in which God is BOTH the subject and object simultaneously.

Why should we worship God? What is worship? Does the style of worship matter to God? Should we plan worship? What do we want to happen to people in the worship experience? This article takes an introductory look at these five questions.

Tell the Story

In the New Testament, the believers gathered together not to receive an emotional high but to proclaim the mighty work of God in Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit.  The essence of their worship was built upon a testimony to the power of Christ and how that power was changing lives on a daily basis.

Hear from Rick Muchow in answering today's question: We are looking at starting a second service. Is there a resource that you would recommend? Do you have suggestions that would help prepare to start this service?

Pop's n' Flip Flops

I sat in our staff meeting 'brainstorming' how to make Father's Day different.  How do you take a holiday like this and repackage it to make it somehow memorable/unique?

Does Style Matter?

"Contemporary" and "Traditional" are two of the largest popular styles in church worship specifically geared to edify and meet worshipers through relevant community identifications.

“I’ll take ‘Church Stuff’ for one hundred dollars, Alex.”

“The answer is, ‘That’s the way we’ve always done it.’”

“Hmmm. How about, ‘Why do most churches do things the way they do?’”

“Right!”
