If U2, a four member band can pack out a stadium of 50+ thousand people, (in application) is there something that we can learn from in the leading of worship in our churches?

Our senior minister and I went to see U2-3D in IMAX and had this same thought. Four guys, 60,000 people and a compelling story woven into the progression of seemingly unconnected musical and lyrical themes. They told their "story" (which is their perceptions of the world and its issues combined with with their solution) using lights, cameras, graphics, music and lyrics. The result: we were captivated. We didn't "participate" but we did get "educated". For me as a worship leader, the red flag is raised in the issue of "performance" and "participation". No matter our style of music, we walk this fine line and , as seasoned artists, tend to teeter towards performance with a worshipful heart instead of engagement with God through humility, thankfulness and celebration. Thanks for sharing and making me think Branon.

Thanks Robert. It is amazing especially when you consider that this happens in Japan, China and Germany, when all the concert goers sing their songs in English! Most of the time, they sing louder than the band.
