God has a special and unique home. It is a house constructed of his people. Yes, I said “of”, not “by”.  God lives in the hearts of his people, “through faith”. (Ephesians 4:17) “Do you not know that you are a temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?” (1 Corinthians 3:16) “He who raised Christ Jesus from dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who indwells you.” (Romans 8:11).  1 Peter 2:5 says that those who are God’s possession become a part of his home. “You also, as living stones are being built up as a spiritual house.”

God dwells where he is welcome and that is the place of faith. Christians are people of faith in God. Christians are people of praise for God. Christians are God’s home on this earth. God’s house is filled with joy, praise, and worship continually because of who he is.

God does not leave the house, stay in a hotel, and wait until we “clean up our act”. He promised he would never leave us. (Hebrew 13:5) He is patient and loving.

Just as we lovingly work on the problems we find in our homes, Christians are God’s workmanship.  He is gently working on his home with tender care. In addition to being his dwelling, we are also trophies of his victory, proudly displayed in his residence. He treasures what he redeemed. Look around his home and you will see countless testaments of his restorative work. Imagine!  You and I are what God desires to be surrounded with. Wow! My mind is awed at God’s plan and his thoughts of us.

Ephesians 2:19-22 aptly proclaims, “So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints, and are of God’s household, having been built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the corner stone, in whom the whole, building, being fitted together is growing into a holy temple in the Lord in whom you also are being built together into a dwelling of God in the spirit.”

The ministry of worship goes on in his house. It’s not a house built with man’s hands. Worship is an ongoing activity in God’s dwelling. We don’t go to a church building to begin to worship. It’s an event that occurs in his house all week long.
