The one element that distinguishes Christian works of authorships from other copyrights is that they are birthed, fashioned and empowered by the Word of God. In the midst of daily business activities, it's important to frequently meditate on what that really means.

My vocation focuses on promoting, protecting and nurturing works of authorship by helping Christians honor copyrighted works. The one element that distinguishes Christian copyrights from other intellectual properties is that they are birthed, formed, fashioned and empowered by the Word of God. If I’m going to hold this truth close to the core of my daily activities, I need to frequently meditate on what that really means.

God’s Word is more powerful than any force or energy in the heavens, on earth, or under the earth (Phil. 2: 9-11).

It splits atoms, rearranges molecules and changes matter.

It floods the darkest corner of the cosmos with blinding light.

It stops raging currents of water and turns them in the opposite direction.

It produces heavenly bread and feeds a wandering city of millions each morning.

It inscribes truth on stone tablets and on human hearts of stone.

It triumphs over the greatest military power on earth through the meekest of shepherds.

It uncovers deception and vanquishes spiritual foes.

It reveals the most intimate thoughts and intents of the human soul.

It creates perfectly whole legs where there once were stumps.

It delivers the tormented and ravaged mind from 10,000 demons.

It dispels lies and establishes truth.

It breaths life into a decaying corpse and raises it to life again.

It mysteriously compresses and plants all the majesty, glory and beauty of the Creator of the universe into an invisible seed in the womb of a teenage girl, and the Word became flesh and dwells among us.

It compels the Son of God—the One who created everything seen and unseen—to humble himself, relinquish all His glory and exchange His life for ours.

And incredibly it transforms a heart of stone and refashions it into a heart of flesh, reflecting the very image of God.

Lord, today we humbly receive your living Word with joy and awe!
