Paul Baloche
Paul Baloche has written some of this generation’s most compelling worship songs, songs that have become the soundtrack for believers all over the world in times of worship both corporate and private. His approach to his calling is simple, yet profound: “The best worship songs come as a byproduct of worship.”

What are God Songs? God Songs are songs
sung to God, for God and about God. We sing because God sings, and we
are made in His image. God sings? Yes! Zephaniah 3:17(NKJV) says, “The
Lord your God in your midst, the Mighty One, will save…He will rejoice
over you with singing.” That’s the ultimate God song! God singing over
us. If we could hear such a song we would fall down in awe.
I can feel this God song rising up in me. From Hallelujah! (Your Love is Amazing) by Brenton Brown and Brian Doerksen.
There’s another kind of God song that requires neither talent nor craft. It might be a momentary cry—a new song sung to the Lord from a thrilled or saddened heart. It may be the simplest child-like expression of love and faith, a song unique to the worshiper, a momentary “singing in the spirit,” which no one else will ever sing. That’s a God song too. The Father hears it and is blessed, not because of its dazzling craftsmanship, but because of the love and trust it expresses, even as a dad takes delight in the smeared valentine offered by his little child, who made it made just for him.
We’re talking about writing (or selecting) songs for the church to sing together, songs of worship that express, in words we all can share in, our love for Him. That kind of song does require talent—a songwriting gift, developed by its recipient to a higher level.
These God Songs begin with the exciting spark of inspiration that is born out of our own worship. Then they are molded in the crucible of our craft. Powerful, singable God Songs adore, praise and witness; but more, they are special because they are not only glorious truths, but good songs. What the Spirit ignites in our spirits is forged and formed into art in the furnace of hard work and dedication to excellence. Great God Songs have both fresh, original expressions of truth, and the musical integrity that make them easy to remember and hard to forget. Great God Songs are the songs that hit us right in the heart.

I am copying this for our Chancel Choir at church. We sing a lot of P Baloche songs in worship. Your comments are so "right on" as to how we feel about sining worship. Thank you or your gifts to Him.

I really like Paul Baloche's emphasis on worshipping together - and for writing songs that are accessible by everyone.

Are we not to always to sing to the LORD? In my own writings, I have found myself, as lead by the Holy Spirit, going back to the way us "Jesus Freaks" of the late sixty's and early seventies...using the WORD as the 'words' of a song. God gives us who are musicians (and those who official title is not a musician) melodies (Psalm 33:3; Isaiah 42:10; Revelation 14:3). How much more do we sing to the LORD "God songs" than to use HIS WORD to worship HIM!
