What’s the greatest challenge you face as a worship leader? You might
think it’s deciding which songs to sing, getting along with your
pastor, receiving feedback from church members, or leading a team of
unorganized, independent musicians. Nope. Your greatest challenge is
what you yourself bring to the platform each and every Sunday. Your heart.

Question: We currently have four worship teams, giving 15-20
people a month a chance to lead in music. We’ve
discussed cutting the number of teams down to one or two that would be
much more musically adept; the downside of this is that many “moderate”
musicians would no longer have a chance to share their musical gifts as
a part of worship. We want to be sensitive to everyone, yet provide the
highest quality music possible for all of the obvious reasons. What
biblical principles should we use in determining which direction to go?

How do we support the beauty of congregational worship? Do our technical tools sometimes get in the way of what God is truly after in His services of praise?
Part II: In the discussion of "What's In A Name," Bob takes us further down-stream to analyze what it means to be a worship leader, by its title and representation. Anyone who seeks to encourage others to give
praise and honor to God can be referred to broadly as a “worship
leader.” While in Scripture praising God often involves music, it can
happen without it as well.

There’s no question that the role of the worship leader has been
exaggerated in recent decades, as well as it's title. Most people identify a role or position by its name; the term worship leader, seems to be the buzz word around most local churches. One comment suggests: “For many young people choosing a
church, worship leaders have become a more important factor than
preachers." In the Church, what are the serious concerns and differences that we as worship leaders need to understand in our actual title and role?
