GMA: "Jesus Messiah" (Chris Tomlin)

Featuring Ryan Dahl Posted on April 21, 2008

Another day at GMA that started with a powerful session by Louie Giglio, then meeting with Gary Christenson (CCLI), Steve McPherson (Hillsong Publishing), and a spur-of-the-moment opportunity to chat with Paul Baloche.  Seems that Paul is a real fan of PraiseCharts. He said he is on our site browsing around 3 or 4 times a week!  What a blessing to be a resource even to the guy that is fueling PraiseCharts with some of our best songs.  As I left the hotel, I caught a glimpse of this tall guy with a big goatee and a head of hair that went straight out in all directions.  You guessed it: David Crowder.  I introduced myself, and asked if he heard of PraiseCharts. "Of course," he said, "I'm a worship leader" (like that was a no-brainer).  Well, I was humbled. Then, I turned around and there was a much shorter guy in a black dress jacket waiting to go to dinner - none other than Chris Tomlin

That afternoon, Chris had just introduced a brand new song with his band that had never been played before in public.  The song, "Jesus Messiah", will be included on his next major release, due out this Fall.  If any of you are wondering when the next How Great Is Our God is coming out, I think I heard it this afternoon.  Only Chris can make a three chord song fuel your spirit with such power and anointing.  OK, maybe more than three chords, but this song had tremendous power - even in it's simplicity, and the message was such an anthem-declaration of praise.  Get ready for the rafters to shake as this song makes it's way down the runway this Fall - the sound of generations singing in one voice with hands raised, declaring Jesus Messiah.  I should have brought my voice recorder - but I suppose I'll have to wait like the rest of you to hear it again -- and then, no doubt, again, and again and again.
